Partner Description
The Deutsches Krebsforschungszentrum (German Cancer Research Center, DKFZ) in Heidelberg has a worldwide reputation of excellence in basic and translational cancer research and is one of the leading centers in that area.
The DKFZ is a member institution of the Helmholtz Association, which is Germany’s largest research organization.
The DKFZ provides modern state-of-the-art laboratories and offices. The DKFZ and the University campus provide probably some of the best core facilities within Europe, including animal facilities, microscopy services as well as genomic and proteomic facilities.
The DKFZ has a very strong record of participation in EU framework programmes. Within the 7th framework programme, the DKFZ participated in 58 projects with funding for approx. 30 M€.
The DKFZ manages a patent portfolio of 232 patent families, comprising 1037 individual national and international patents and patent applications.
The Division of Vascular Oncology and Metastasis works at the junction of vascular biology and tumor biology and is fully equipped to analyze human and mouse samples on a cellular and molecular basis.
The laboratory has established a panel of specialized analytical and manipulatory cellular and in vivo assays to study and trace differentiation of the endothelial cells, which are indispensable for the proposed experiments.
